Cinco Ranch improved to 2-1 in district play Friday by defeating Morton Ranch 8-1 at home.

Jessica Stoelke and Courtney Buchman led the Cougar attack in support of pitcher Kelly Tepper, who allowed just one unearned run while striking out nine batters, picking up the complete-game win.

Stoelke finished 3-for-4 on the night with three runs scored, while Buchman went 2-for-4 with three runs driven in. Stoelke also stole a pair of bases.

Taylor Weigand took the loss for the Mavericks, giving up six runs (four earned) in three innings in the circle.

First baseman Mary Beth Allcorn chipped in with a two-run triple for the Cougars.
