5 Pool/Double Elimination Bracket
After a strong finish as a second year 10 & U team in 2000, the Texas Aces decided to apply for acceptance to the 2001 Colorado Fireworks Invitational Tournament held around July 4th every year. The Aces wanted to travel to an out-of-state tournament, and weren't sure if they would qualify for any national tournaments as a first year 12 & U team with all the strong second year 12 & U teams in the Houston area. Therefore, in August of 2000, they sent in their application along with the 14 & U Texas Aces. Once accepted, plans were made to attend the big event, and for vacationing in the beautiful state of Colorado. The girls played some pretty good softball, and won their pool, beating out a strong U.S. Angels team from Oklahoma. However, they didn't stay in the bracket as long as they hoped, losing to another team they had beaten in the pool.
Of course, after the games, the group went white-water rafting, toured the Coors Brewery, and picnicked along a mountain stream.
