Texas ASA 12U "A" State Tournament
Gary Softball Complex
San Marcos, TX
June 28-30, 2002
double elimination bracket - 32 teams

Texas Aces Bring Home the Hardware!
After a rainy weekend, the Texas ASA 12U "A" State tournament was finally cancelled early Sunday afternoon.  The Texas Aces were one of four teams remaining undefeated in the winners bracket.  Eight teams remained in the loser's bracket when the rains came Saturday night around 11:00 pm, causing the games to be suspended. The teams in the losers bracket automatically qualified for Regionals next month in Fort Worth.  Although two of the teams in the winners bracket wanted to stay around and play off the championship, a unanimous decision could not be reached.  Therefore, the four teams in the winners bracket were named co-champions and each received a berth to ASA 12U Nationals in Sterling, Virginia.  Following ASA guidelines, the teams were ranked according to runs allowed, putting the Texas Aces 1st with 3 runs allowed (according to the official scorekeeper).  The Texas Outlaws and the Sugar Land Outlaws tied with 6  runs allowed, so the tie breaker went to runs scored, putting the Texas Outlaws 2nd and Sugar Land Outlaws 3rd, followed by the Pearland 2Xtreme with 10 runs allowed.  The Texas Aces were awarded the State Champion trophies, while other State Champion trophies will be ordered for the remaining three teams.  Congratulations to the four Houston area teams now qualified for ASA Nationals!
The Texas ASA 12U State Championship trophy matches the
