Texas Aces Make it Four in a Row!
With the tournament win in College Station, the Texas Aces have now won their last four 12U tournaments of the spring season.  With solid hitting, excellent defense, and strong pitching, the Texas aces outscored their opponents 67-4 over eight games.  After breezing through the pool games, scoring 37 runs and allowing none, the Aces faced much tougher competition in the bracket games.  Although the Aces came out on top in every game, they were all hard-fought victories.  There were several nail-biting moments, such as when the Aces walked the first three batters of the first bracket game; when the Blue Sox got two hits in the 4th when the Aces had only a 2-run lead; when the Aces fell behind the Comets in the winner's bracket before the Aces bats busted open the game; and when the Comets had bases loaded with only one out in the 1st inning of the Championship game.  The Aces managed to get through it all, and took home the championship trophies (small as they were!)  A special congratulations goes out to the San Antonio Cruisers who fought their way back through the losers bracket to take 3rd place.

Bracket 2 - vs Round Rock Intruders.  Aces won 4-0.
The second bracket game immediately followed the first.  This time, Rhiannon found her grove, and with the help of the Aces defense, pitched a no-hitter, with six strikeouts, one walk, and one hit by pitch.  The Intruders had one other baserunner who reached on an Aces defensive error.  Amber led off with a safe bunt in the 1st, advanced on a wild pitch and a groundout, and scored on a sac fly by Lindsey.  In the 2nd, Kayla led off with a hit, and advanced on a sac bunt by Kendall, who ended up on base on an overthrow to 1st.  Kayla was tagged out trying to score by the right fielder backing up the overthrow. Kendall stole 2nd and advance to 3rd on a wild pitch, and scored on a sac bunt by Kelsea

The Intruders first batter in the 3rd reached on error, but on a grounder to 1st, Kendall tagged the bag to get the runner out, and quickly fired to Lindsey at short who got the runner rounding 2nd for a double play. The Aces had their chance to take the lead in the 2nd, when Lindsey got a two-out single down the 3rd base line, followed by a single from Megan, but both were left stranded.  The Comets led off with a single in the 3rd, and another runner reached on an error.  However, Rhiannon caught a line drive back to her and doubled off the lead runner at 2nd.  The Comets followed with a two-out single, and the lead runner scored on a missed fly ball, putting the Comets up 2-1.

The Aces bats came alive in the 4th, as Kendall led off with a single.  After a groundout, Kesha brought home Kendall with a single, and Kesha scored on a double by Rhiannon. Rhiannon advanced to 3rd on a safe bunt by Amy, and Brytish followed with a single to load the bases.  Lindsey reached on an error as Rhiannon scored.  Megan brought home two with a single, and Kayla walked to load the bases again. Lindsey scored on a groundout by Kendall, and Kelsea walked to load the bases a third time.  Kesha and Rhiannon each had another single, as Megan scored on a wild pitch and Kayla scored on an error, giving the Aces 8 runs in the inning.  The Aces shut down the side to end the game with a fly-out to Amy in center field, a foul fly ball that Kendall caught in right field, and a grounder to Rhiannon to end the game 9-2.

Bracket 5 - Championship Game - vs Texas Comets.  Aces won 5-0.
The Comets beat the San Antonio Cruisers (who were put into the loser's bracket in the first game against the Aces) to face the Aces again for the championship.  Kayla pitched a no-hit shutout with 1 strikeout and 2 walks.  In the 1st, Amber reached on an error, and advanced on a wild pitch and a single by Megan, but both were left stranded.  Kayla ran into a little trouble in the 1st, as she walked two batters on one out, and the Aces missed the out on a fielder's choice to load the bases.  However, the next batter hit to Kelsea at 3rd, and she got the lead runner on a quick throw to Megan at the plate.  Lindsey then scooped a grounder to 2nd and barely made the throw to 1st in time to get the out without allowing a run to score.  In the top of the 3rd, Amber got on with a safe bunt on one out.  Brytish and Lindsey each followed with singles to load the bases.  Megan followed with a single to bring home one run, and after a strikeout, Kendall brought home two more runs with a single.  Kelsea followed with another RBI single, giving the Aces 4 runs in the inning.  In the bottom of the 3rd, the first two batters grounded out to Kelsea, but the next batter reached on an error.  The next batter hit a hard shot up the middle just outside 2nd base, and Lindsey rushed over from short to snag the ball and get the force at 2nd.  Amber walked in the 4th, and scored on a single from Lindsey, to give the Aces one more run.  In the bottom of the 4th, after a fly-out and a groundout, one runner reached on an error, but Rhiannon tagged the next batter on a short hit up the first base line to end the game.
