Texas Aces Go Undefeated Again!
After the AFA Qualifier in Lake Jackson failed to make, the Texas Aces were able to get into the Sugar Land tournament instead. The Aces would have to go through all the Sugar Land 14U select teams to take this tournament. The team got off to a solid start on Saturday, winning both pool games, and winning their first bracket game with a shutout against the Texas Outlaws. Early the next morning, the Aces faced the Sugar Land Heat for what proved to be the most exciting game of the tournament. The Aces took an early lead with runs in the 1st and 2nd inning, but the Heat came back and tied it up with runs of their own in the 2nd and 3rd. The Aces put 4 runs on the board in the 4th, and thought they had it taken care of, when the Heat came fighting back. The Heat was home team, and time had expired. With tying run at 2nd, and the go-ahead run at 1st, it looked like the Heat was going to take the game with a shot to center field. One run scored, but as the go-ahead runner headed for the plate, the Aces relayed the throw in from the outfield to get the out at home and send the game into ITB! The Aces finally prevailed in the ITB inning. Congratulations to the Sugar Land Heat on a great game! The Aces went on to beat the Sugar Land Outlaws twice to take the tournament. Congratulations girls on a job well done!
