4 game Round Robin

No Runs Scored Against Us!
The Texas Aces played another four game round robin, this time on their home fields.  It was nice to finally have a sunny day!  Although the girls couldn't seem to find their bats all day and made a few defensive errors, they managed to get the runs they needed to win every game while keeping the other teams from scoring any!

Game 1 - vs Diamond Dawgs.  Aces won 2-0.
The Diamond Dawgs team must have been a group of players from different Houston area teams that got together to play while the rest of their teammates are playing high school ball.  Danye from the Sugar Land Outlaws started off pitching for the Dawgs.  For the Aces, Amber led off with a single up the middle, but was out on a fielder's choice by Rhiannon. Rhiannon advanced to 2nd on a passed ball and to 3rd on a wild pitch.  A dropped 3rd strike on on what would have been the 3rd out allowed Rhiannon to score.  The Outlaws first two batters reached on Aces defensive errors.  After two outs and an intentional walk, Rhiannon struck out the last batter to leave three stranded.  On two outs in the 2nd, Kelsea and Kesha hit singles off another pitcher, but were left stranded.  Another Dawgs batter reached on an error in the 2nd, but was picked off 1st.  The Aces had one base runner on a walk in the 3rd that was left stranded.  The Aces girls backed each other up nicely on a couple of back to back plays.  The first batter hit a hard shot to Lana Jo at 1st base, which she got a glove on but deflected to Kendall playing 2nd.  Lana Jo quickly got to the bag at 1st and Kendall made the throw for the 1st out.  The next batter hit one to Kendall that she got a glove on but deflected, and Siera in right field recovered the ball and threw to 1st for the 2nd out.  Siera caught a fly ball in right for the final out.  The Dawgs started another pitcher in the 4th, but had to pull her for illegal pitches (crow hopping) and bring in another.  Lana Jo and Siera walked, and Lindsey hit a single. Lana Jo scored on a passed ball.  Two were left stranded.  The Dawgs led off with a double in the 4th for their first hit of the game.  After a strike out, Siera made a great stretch to catch a fly ball in right and held the runner at 2nd.  Rhiannon intentionally walked Danye again, and got the 3rd out on a ground out to Amber at 2nd to keep the shutout intact.

Game 2 - vs Alvin Texas Venom.  Aces won 7-0.
Siera pitched for the Aces, and got the Venom 3-up-3-down with two ground outs to Lindsey at short and a strike out.  Pearland's Kristina pitched for the Venom.  The first two Aces batters struck out.  The Megan walked, and Lana Jo reached on an error. Siera walked to load the bases.  Rhiannon walked for an RBI, and Lindsey was hit by a pitch for another RBI.  Kesha and Ashley both walked for two more RBIs, and Lindsey scored on a passed ball before another strike out ended the at bat.  The Aces got the first two outs in the 2nd on ground outs.  The next Venom batter hit a double to left center.  The outfield got the ball in to Lindsey at 2nd, but the runner decided to go for 3rd.  Lindsey threw to Kelsea at 3rd, but the ball got past Kelsea, so the runner decided to go home.  Megan was waiting for the throw at the plate with only one foot touching the plate when the runner decided to run through Megan rather than slide across the plate.  In doing so, so jumped completely over the plate and missed it!  After the ball was thrown back in to Siera, she threw it to Megan at the plate.  The runner was heading back to the dugout when she realized something was wrong.  She went back to try and touch the plate, and Megan tagged her.  OUT!!!!  It was a great call by the blue!  The Aces had 3-up-3-down in the bottom of the inning.  The leadoff Venom batter reached on an Aces defensive error in the 3rd, and after one out, the Aces failed to get the lead runner at 2nd on a fielder's choice.  However, two ground outs left both runners stranded. Lana Jo led off with a single in the bottom of the 3rd.  After advancing to 3rd on stolen bases, she came home on a double by Rhiannon. Rhiannon advanced to 3rd and scored on wild pitches.  The Venom had 3-up-3-down in the 4th, for another shut-out game for the Aces.

Game 3 - vs Gulf Coast Xplosion.  Aces won 1-0.
The Aces faced a tough 12U Xplosion team in the third game.  Siera started for the Aces.  The leadoff batter hit a shot to left field, and tried to stretch it to a double.  The outfield got the ball in to Lindsey at short, but the runner got to the bag.  However, Lindsey kept the tag applied, and the runner came off the bag and was called OUT!  Siera struck out the next batter, and the 3rd batter hit a line drive to Amber at 2nd for the 3rd out.  Ashley led off with a single for the Aces, and, after two struck out, scored on a single by KelseaKelsea was left stranded.  Both sides had 3-up-3-down in the 2nd.  Rhiannon came in to pitch in the 3rd, and got the Xplosion 3-up-3-down.  Kesha hit a single on one out in the 3rd, but was left stranded.  The Xplosion had a single in the 4th that was left stranded as Rhiannon struck out 3.  In the bottom of the 4th, Kendall hit a single on one out, and advanced on a single by Amber and a ground out.  On a wild pitch, Kendall went for the plate.  The catcher dove to the plate with the ball in the glove.  Kendall slid across the plate into the glove, and the blue called her OUT!  No way!  Oh well, can't get 'em all!

Game 4 - vs TCB Blue.  Aces won 1-0.
The Aces faced the 2nd year 14U TCB team for the fourth game.  Lindsey hit a single in the 1st, but was left stranded.  Rhiannon struck out the first two batters in the bottom of the 1st.  The TCB pitcher followed with a single, but was left stranded.  The Aces had one base runner on a walk in the 2nd that was left stranded.  TCB had 3-up-3-down with two ground outs and a strike out.  Kendall and Stephanie both walked in the 3rd, but both were left stranded.  TCB had 3-up-3-down again with two more ground outs and a strike out.  Lindsey walked to lead off the 4th, and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch and to 3rd on a sac bunt by Megan, and scored on another wild pitch.  The lead off batter for TCB was called safe at 1st before she even reached the bag on a grounder to short.  However, Rhiannon struck out the next two, and a fly out to Siera in right field kept the shutout intact!
