Aces 14U NQ win

Texas Aces Qualify for ASA Nationals!
The Texas Aces had only one chance to qualify for ASA Nationals this year.  The Aces planned to attend the 14U Hall of Fame tournament to attempt to qualify ASA Nationals, but due to school conflicts, they had to cancel out of the HOF qualifier.  And, since the Aces are going to the Fireworks tournament, they will be unable to attend Texas ASA State on July 2-4.  The Aces played in the ASA Region 7 14U Qualifier, and went undefeated through a field of 17 teams from Texas and Louisiana.  The Aces are now qualified for the 14U ASA National Tournament to be held in Midland, TX August 2-8, 2004.  Good job, ladies!

Pool Game 1 - vs Team Heat USA  '89.  Aces won 16-2.
Heat got an early lead, but the Aces quickly overcame it and went on to collect 13 hits in the victory, including over the fence homeruns by Lana Jo, Rhiannon, and Megan.

Bracket 1 - vs Texas Elite '89.  Aces won 1-0.
Aces had 10 hits and left 9 runners stranded.  Stephanie had the game winning RBI on a single after Megan doubled in the 4th inning.  Elite had only 2 hits, but both came in the bottom of the 7th inning.  The Aces held the Elite with bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th to win the game.

Bracket 2 - vs Spring Klein Sliders (Gray).  Aces won 2-0.
Megan hit a solo homerun, and later doubled and scored again in the win.

Bracket 3 - vs Texas Thunder (Rockdale).  Aces won 5-4.
The Aces got off to a rocky start, allowing 3 runs in the 2nd inning on two Thunder hits and a couple of Aces errors.  The Aces got two runs in the bottom of the 3rd on a couple of hits and Thunder errors.  After Kesha singled in the 4th, Kendall brought her home with a squeeze bunt to tie the game.  The game went into a tiebreaker inning in the 8th, with the Thunder scoring on two hits in the top of the inning.  The Aces managed to tie it back up when Lindsey scored on a wild pitch, and Rhiannon drove in the winning run.

Bracket 4 - vs Texas Liberty.  Aces won 7-2.
The Aces jumped on the board in the top of the 1st with 3 runs as Megan knocked in Lindsey on a fielders choice, and Emily drove in two runs with a double.  The Aces scored two more in the 2nd after Sarah and Lindsey singled, and Lana Jo cleared the bases with a 2-out double.  The Liberty hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the 2nd, but Sarah held them to no more hits for the remaining innings.

Bracket 5 - vs Sudden Impact.  Aces won 4-3.
It looked like trouble when Sudden Impact led off with a hit, and hit a 2-run homerun in the top of the 1st inning, but the Aces didn't let that rattle them.  Amber led off with a hit in the bottom of the 1st, and Emily doubled home the first run.  Impact added another run on two hits in the 2nd, and the Aces were down 3-1 after the bottom of the 2nd.  Amber singled in the 3rd, and Megan drove home the Aces 2nd run.  Rhiannon led off with a single in the 4th, and Kesha followed with another single.  A walk loaded the bases.  Sarah was pinch running for Rhiannon, and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.  The Aces had an opportunity to put the game away, but left two runners stranded.  The game went into an ITB in the 6th.  Sudden Impact bunted their runner over to 3rd, but the Aces got the out at the plate when the runner tried to score on a wild pitch.  The Aces added a baserunner on a walk in the bottom of the 6th, but failed to score.  In the 2nd inning of ITB, Sudden Impact again bunted their runner over to 3rd.  On a squeeze play at the plate on a bunt, the Aces again got the out at the plate.  However, an Aces error and a single loaded the bases, but Emily made a great catch in right field to leave all three stranded.  In the bottom of the 7th, Lindsey was hit by a pitch, and Lana Jo walked to load the bases with no outs.  Megan battled at the plate and fouled off  strike after strike before finally drawing a walk on the 11th pitch to bring in the winning run.
