Aces win Katy Cruisers Pumpkinpatch Bash
The two strongest teams in the 16U division turned out to be the two 14U teams playing up. Saturday, the Aces got in one pool game and beat the 16U Katy Cruisers before the rains came and washed out games for the day.  Back for their first bracket game on Sunday, with the weather cold and windy, the Aces faced the 14U Spring Klein Sudden Impact.  It looked like the Aces might have to take the long way through the bracket when Sudden Impact got the first run on the board in the 5th inning, but the Aces came through in the bottom of the inning and scored two runs to win the game.  After the Aces shut out the 16U Texas Rookies in the next game, they waited while the Sudden Impact sent home the Katy Cruisers and the Rookies.  Just after the championship game started, the rain returned.  The players, parents, and coaches were pretty miserable in the cold, rainy weather.  After two scoreless innings, and only one hit allowed in the game, the coaches decided to throw in the towel before anyone got hurt or sick.  The Aces might have taken home the 1st place trophy for being undefeated, but the Sudden Impact were winners too as both teams put the kids (and parents) health first!

In the next bracket game, the Aces faced the Rookies, again as home team.  Rhiannon struck out the first two batters.  The next batter hit a fly ball out to left field, and Kesha made a super catch over her head to retire the side.  The Aces were 3-up-3-down in the first.  The Rookies hit a double on two outs in the 2nd, but the runner was left stranded.  After one out in the bottom of the 2nd, Rhiannon hit a double.  On two outs, Kesha hit a single to score RhiannonAshley followed with another single to score KeshaKelsea bunted safely to advance AshleyAshley scored on a wild pitch before the side retired.  The Rookies were 3-up-3-down in the 3rd.  Sarah reached on an error in the bottom of the 3rd.  Megan hit a single after one out.  Rhiannon hit another single to score SarahKendall bunted safely to load the bases.  Kesha hit into a fielder's choice which got Megan at the plate.  Ashley followed with another single to score another run.  A ground out left three stranded.  Rhiannon walked a runner in the 4th, and a fielder's choice took the lead runner, and one was left stranded.  Sarah hit a triple in the 4th, and scored on a wild pitch.  Time expired with the Aces still batting.

Bracket 3 - vs SK Sudden Impact.  Tied 0-0 when game stopped.
After Sudden Impact played all day to send home the rest of the teams, it was finally time for the Championship Game.  Just as the game got started, the wind died down, but the rain started.  It was cold and drizzly.  Sudden Impact was home team this time.  The Aces were 3-up-3-down in the first.  Rhiannon walked one in the bottom of the 1st, but the runner was left stranded at 3rd on a strike out. After one out in the 2nd, Rhiannon hit a single, and Kendall walked.  Kesha advanced the runners with a sac bunt, but both were left stranded.  Rhiannon walked one in the bottom of the 2nd, but struck out three.  By this time, all the girls were soaked, and the parents were miserable.  The umpires asked the coaches if they wanted to continue, and both agreed to end the game before anyone got hurt or sick.   Thanks coaches!!
