The Texas Aces had one bad inning in the first bracket game, and had to take the long road back through the loser's bracket to get to the championship game and force an IF game to win this one. Sunday the girls played four games with only 9 players available. Everyone did a great job when it counted. Nice job, ladies!

Lana Jo pitched for the Aces. The first Blitz batter led off with a double, but was left stranded as the next three batters went down in order. Lana Jo rallied on two outs in the first inning with a single, and advanced and scored on a stolen base and two wild pitches as Megan walked. Megan also scored. Rhiannon led off with a single in the 2nd, and scored on a triple by Ashley. Kendall walked, but two were left. The Blitz had one single in the 3rd, and scored on Aces an error. Sarah led off the bottom of the 3rd with a single and scored on a single by Lindsey. Lana Jo singled to score Lindsey before time expired.
Pool Game
2 - vs Texas Legends 16U. Aces win 3-0.
The Legends leadoff batter reached on an error, and was advanced to 2nd
on a sac bunt. However, Kendall
made a double play and got the runner rounding 2nd with a
throw to Lindsey at
short. Emily and Kesha each reached on errors in the
2nd and scored. Lindsey reached
on an error in the 4th and scored as Emily
reached on an error. The Legends had a single in the
4th for the only hit of the game by either side.
Bracket
1 - vs Galveston Islanders 14U. Aces lose 4-5.
The Islanders led off with a single in the 1st, but the runner was
doubled off on a line drive to 2nd. Lindsey singled in the bottom of
the 1st, and scored on a wild pitch as Lana
Jo reached on a dropped 3rd strike. Lana Jo was left stranded. The
Islanders led off the 2nd with another hit, but the runner was left
stranded with a strikeout, a ground out, and a pop-up. Kendall walked in the 2nd but was
left stranded. Rhiannon struggled
with the strike zone in the 3rd, and walked the first batter. The
next batter bunted for a single as the runner beat out the throw to
1st. The next runner singled to load the bases. On the
squeeze, no one covered the plate and one run scored to tie the game at
1-1. The next batter hit into a fielder's choice which got the
lead runner at the plate. Rhiannon
struck out the next batter for the 2nd out. However,
a walk brought in the go-ahead run for the Islanders, then a double
cleared the bases to put the Aces in a hole. The Aces rallied
back in the bottom of the 3rd as Amber
led off with a double, and advanced on a single by Lindsey. Lana Jo singled to left to bring
home one run, and got caught in a run down as Lindsey scored. Rhiannon was back in form in the
4th, as the first batter grounded out to the pitcher, and Rhiannon struck out the next.
The Islanders hit a single, but the runner was left stranded. In
the bottom of the 4th, Kesha reached
on an error and advanced on a sac bunt by Stephanie. Kendall walked, and Emily grounded out to score Kesha. However, another
groundout left one stranded and the Aces short a run.
