Aces Take 3rd on First Outing of the Fall
The Texas Aces were undefeated in pool play, outscoring their opponents 34-0 in 5 games in the 1st Look tournament at Southbelt.  This put the Aces first in their pool, so they advanced to the single elimination bracket.  In the bracket, they played against the Cy-Fair Intruders.  The Intruders took an early lead, but the Aces didn't give in.  When the Intruders needed only one out to secure the victory, the Aces fought hard and put two runs on the board to force an ITB inning.  The Aces scored one run in the top of the inning, but the Intruders came back and won the game.  It was a good outing for the first tournament of the season.  Congratulations ladies on 3rd place!

Pool Game 1 - vs Texas Select.  Aces won 4-0.
Rhiannon and Morgan split pitching duties, and combined for a no-hitter.  Texas Select had only one base runner on an Aces error.  Morgan was 2 for 2 at bat, with two stand-up doubles, and Amber and Kesha were 2 for 2 with singles.  The Aces totaled 10 hits with singles from Rhiannon, Megan, Kendall, and Brytish.  When time expired, the Aces were batting with bases loaded and only one out.  Way to hit the ball, ladies!

Pool Game 2 - vs Gulf Coast Xplosion.  Aces won 2-0.
GCX had a couple of base runners on 3 hits and one walk spread out over 5 innings, but Megan caught one runner stealing 3rd, and picked another off 1st base with help from Brytish at short and Kendall at 1st.  The game was tied 0-0 through 4 innings.  In the final inning, Kendall got a single on one out, and advanced on passed balls and scored on a wild pitch as Ashley walked.  Kesha laid down a suicide squeeze to score AshleyMorgan shut down the side in the bottom of the inning with two strikeouts and a ground out to secure the win.

Pool Game 3 - vs San Antonio Cougars.  Aces won 3-0.
Morgan pitched two innings, and only one runner reached on an error.  Rhiannon pitched the final two, and the Cougars hit a lead off double in the 4th.  However, a strikeout, a fly out, and a pop left the runner stranded at 2nd.  Kendall went 2 for 2 at bat, and the Aces had five other singles.  Amber led off with a single in the 2nd, advanced on a ground out followed by a single from Kelsea, and scored on a suicide squeeze by KendallLindsey reached on a fielder's choice in the 3rd, and advanced on singles by Morgan and RhiannonLindsey scored on an error.  Kesha led off with a walk in the 4th, and advanced on a sac bunt and a single by Kendall, and scored on another Cougar error.

Pool Game 4 - vs Texas Starz Blue.  Aces won 15-0.
Due to a team dropping out, the Aces picked up an extra pool game against a team from a different pool.  The game went only 3 innings, as the Aces scored 2 runs in the first, 10 in the second, and 3 more in the 3rd.  The Starz had one hit in the bottom of the 3rd, and one reached on an intentional walk, but both were left stranded.  The Aces combined for 11 hits, including 3 from Kesha, two each from Kelsea and Morgan, and one from each from Ashley, Amber, Kendall, and Lindsey.

Pool Game 5 - vs Texas Blitz.  Aces won 10-0.
The Aces scored early in this game, as Brytish led off with a single, and advanced on a single by Morgan, and scored on a single by RhiannonAmber reached on a fielder's choice, and Morgan and Amber scored on wild pitches.  Megan and Ashley walked in the 2nd, and Brytish reached on a fielder's choice.  Megan scored on an error, and Brytish scored on a wild pitch.  The Blitz led off with a single in the 2nd, and after a strikeout, the lead runner was retired on a fielder's choice.  The runner got to 2nd on a wild pitch.  Then on a single up the middle, Brytish in center field threw home to get the runner (Kelsea's cousin Lyssa!) at the plate and keep the Aces record of runs scored against during pool play to ZERO!  The Aces scored 5 runs in the 3rd, as Morgan was hit by a pitch.  Rhiannon followed with a single, and a fielder's choice failed to get the lead runner at 3rd and loaded the bases.  Kendall reached on an error as one run scored, and Megan walked for another run.  Kelsea then cleared the bases with a 3-run triple!

Bracket 1 - vs Cy-Fair Intruders (Parrish).  Aces lost 3-4 in ITB.
The Aces went undefeated in pool, and advanced to the single elimination bracket.  The Intruders went up 1-0 in the 1st with two singles.  In the third, an Intruder batter reached on an error, and scored on a 2-out single for unearned run.  For the Aces, Kendall hit a double in the 2nd, and Megan hit a single in the 3rd, and Morgan hit a single in the 4th, but the Aces couldn't string the hits together to do anything.  Finally, in the top of the 6th, Kelsea singled on one out, and Brytish singled after a second out.  Lindsey rallied on two outs with a single that drove in two runs to tie the game.  In the 7th inning tiebreaker, Morgan advanced on a sac bunt by Rhiannon, and scored on a single by Amber, but the Aces left two runners stranded.  In the bottom of the inning, the Intruders moved their runner to 3rd on a sac bunt.  A hit to 2nd failed to get the runner going home and tied the score once again.  The runner moved to 2nd on another sac bunt, and a single up the middle sent the winning run across the plate.  It was a disappointing loss, but still not bad for the first outing of the year.
