Aces Win AFA 18U Fall State
The Aces tried once again to play in an AFA qualifier, and the third time was the charm after previous tournaments were cancelled or rained out.  The Aces got stronger with each game played, and stayed in the winner's bracket after two ITB innings against the Texas Sting Gold.  In the championship game, the Aces again played the Sting Gold, and this time the Aces took care of things in regulation play, and earned their berth to AFA 18U Nationals next summer!

Bracket Game 2 - vs Texas Sting Gold.  Aces won 2-1.
Rhiannon pitched for the Aces.  The Sting led off with a single.  Lindsey made a great stop at 2nd, but couldn't  make the throw in time.   A ground out advanced the runner to 2nd, but Rhiannon struck out the next two batters to leave the runner stranded.  In the 3rd, the Sting was back to the top of the line up with two outs, when the lead off batter hit another single, this time up the middle.  Those were the only two hits Rhiannon and the Aces defense allowed in the game, and the only base runners the Sting had in regulation play.  Kesha singled for the Aces in the 4th, and Morgan also singled, but both were left stranded.  Kendall reached on an error leading off the 5th, advanced on a sac bunt and stole 3rd, but was left stranded.  Kelsea singled on two outs in the 6th, but was left stranded.  Megan led off the 7th with a double, but was also left stranded.  The game went into International Tie Breaker rules in the 8th.  Sting advanced their runner to 3rd with a sac bunt.  Rhiannon struck out the next batter.  With a 2-2 count on the next batter, Rhiannon let a rise ball get away, and the runner from 3rd scored on the wild pitch.  Rhiannon struck out the batter on the next pitch.  In the bottom of the inning, Amber was on 2nd for the Aces.  Ashley laid down a perfect sac bunt to advance Amber to 3rd.  Lindsey hit a fly ball to shallow right field, and Amber tagged up and headed home.  The throw was off target, as Amber scored to keep the Aces in the game.  Kesha reached on an error, but was left stranded, and the game went into a second tie-breaker inning.  The Sting again advanced their runner to 3rd with a sac bunt.  However, this time the next batter popped up to Brytish at short, and the next one grounded to Lindsey at 2nd.  Kelsea was the runner for the Aces in the bottom of the 9th.  Morgan laid down the bunt to move Kelsea to 3rd.  Megan took one pitch, then laid down the perfect suicide squeeze bunt down the first base line to score Kelsea and secure the win!  Rhiannon pitched the full 9 innings, allowing only two hits, with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

Bracket Game 3 - vs Texas Sting Gold.  Aces won 4-3.
The Sting came from behind to beat Lethal Weapon and advance to the championship game.   This time Morgan pitched for the Aces.  The Sting hit a two out double in the 1st, but the runner was left stranded.  Kelsea followed with a two out double for the Aces, but was also left stranded.  Morgan walked one in the 2nd, and the Aces got the lead runner on a fielder's choice from Amber at 2nd to Lindsey at short.  A pop up to Amber and a strike out left one stranded.  In the bottom of the 2nd,  Megan scorched a line drive down the 3rd base line that was caught, but had to hurt!  Then Kendall singled, followed by a single by Rhiannon.  After an infield fly for the 2nd out, Brytish singled to load the bases.  Lindsey found a pitch to hit and sent it to the fence for a 3-run double to put the Aces on the board.  The Sting had one base runner in the 3rd on an Aces error.  Kelsea singled in the bottom of the 3rd, but was out on a fielder's choice by MeganKendall singled, and Rhiannon followed with another single, but Megan was caught in a run down trying to score.  In the top of the 4th, the Sting hit a single on one out.  The next batter hit into a fielder's choice, as the Aces got the lead runner at 2nd.  Lindsey made the stop on the hit up the middle, and tagged the bag with her glove, but was taken out with a late slide by the runner before she could attempt a throw or move out of the way.  Lindsey was still hurting on the next grounder to short, and a throwing error allowed a run to score.  The Aces shuffled the fielders to compensate for the injury.  However, a single to right field then scored two more runs to tie the game.  After missing the out at the plate, the Aces got the batter-runner heading to 2nd for the final out.  The Sting leadoff batter reached on an error in the 5th, but Morgan caught a pop-up bunt attempt and caught the runner in a double play.  The next two batters singled, before Morgan shut down the side with a ground out back to the pitcher.  Kesha led off with a walk in the bottom of the 5th, and advanced to 2nd on a passed ball.  Kelsea got her 3rd hit of the game as she drove in the winning run with a single!  Kelsea was 3-for-3 at bat, and Rhiannon and Kendall were both 2-for-2.  Morgan pitched a complete game, allowing 6 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk, with no earned runs.
