Aces Play Practice Games After AFA NQ Rains Out
The Texas Aces were looking forward to playing the the AFA tournament in Pasadena.  There were 16 teams entered in the 18U bracket, and it looked like it would be a good tournament.  However, mother nature had other plans, and after only one pool game, the rains came down and the tournament ended up being canceled.  Sugar Land Shock, who was also scheduled to be in the tournament, instead hosted the Texas Aces at their practice field at Clements High School on Sunday for a double header.  At least we got some real games in after all.
Thanks Shock for having us!

Pool Game 1 - vs Lethal Weapon.  Aces tied 0-0.
The Aces got in one pool game before the rains washed out the Pasadena AFA qualifier.  Each team only had one hit in the game.  Kesha reached on a bunt for the Aces only hit.   The Aces had several other baserunners reach on errors or walks, but could not manufacture a run.

Practice Game 1 - vs Sugar Land Shock.  Aces won 1-0.
The format of the practice games were 6 full innings, with two paid umpires.  Morgan pitched the first game, and only allowed two hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3.  Two runners reached on Aces defensive errors, but the defense held them on base.  Lindsey hit a double in the first inning, but was left stranded.  Kelsea singled in the 3rd and advanced to 3rd on a sac bunt, but was caught trying to score on a wild pitch.  The Aces left a runner stranded in the 4th.  Megan hit a single in the 5th, and a fielder's choice failed to get the lead runner, but the Aces left two stranded.  Finally, in the 6th, Morgan walked on one out, and scored on a single by Amber to put the Aces on the board.

Practice Game 2 - vs Sugar Land Shock.  Aces won 3-2.
Rhiannon pitched the second game, allowing 3 hits with 5 strikeouts and one walk, with no earned runs.  Rhiannon also got 6 ground outs back to the pitcher in that game, included all 3 outs in the 2nd, and two in the 6th.  Kesha hit a bunt single in the 2nd, but was left stranded.  Kendall singled in the 3rd but was caught stealing.  The Shock led off with a single in the 4th, but Rhiannon caught the runner in a double play after a pop up back to the pitcher.  Rhiannon walked a batter on one out in the 5th, and got the 2nd out with a pop up to 2nd.  A single up the middle put two runners on.  The next batter hit a fly ball to right, but an error on the play allowed two runs to score.  In the 6th, Amber reached on a dropped 3rd strike, and Kendall singled up the middle.  Kelsea walked to load the bases.  On a grounder back to the pitcher, the play was made at 1st and one run scored.  Megan laid down a bunt for a hit and another run scored.  Kesha tried the same thing, but Kelsea was tagged out at the plate as Megan moved to 3rd.  Lindsey walked, and Megan scored on a passed ball as the Aces took the lead.  The Shock had a single in the bottom of the 6th, but the Aces held the runner and kept the lead.
