7 ASA Gold Qualifier, Irving, TX The time off really helped, as the Texas Aces were one game away from qualifying for ASA Gold Nationals. After bracket wins against Hit Away Gold 3-0 and Hawks Gold 1-0, the winner of the game got an automatic berth to Gold Nationals. The Aces had an early lead in the 1st inning against Texas Storm - Dixon when the Aces got three quick hits off the Storm starting pitcher. The Storm changed pitchers and limited the Aces to only one more hit when Brytish hit a double to deep center field in the 5th. The Storm tied it up in the bottom of the 5th with a run, then came back with two runs in the bottom of the 6th for the win. The Aces then faced the Texas Storm Gold in the loser's bracket. The game was scoreless through 6 regulation innings, then went into ITB in the 7th. The Aces held the Storm scoreless in the 7th., The Aces had a runner on 3rd but failed to score on a fly ball to center. On to the 8th and a second tiebreaker inning. This time the Storm got a hit through to score one run, and added a couple more on another hit and an Aces fielding error. The Aces couldn't come back in the bottom of the inning. Interesting note: Texas Storm Gold pitched Barbie Love, who just completed her freshman year at University of Houston, and the Aces started Morgan Luksa, who just completed her freshman year at Clear Creek High School! The Aces played well throughout the tournament, and many teams and college coaches noticed. |
