Editor's note: Rhiannon Kliesing, who pitches for the Texas Aces club team, led Pearland (Texas) High to the state playoffs in 2006 as she hurled 13 shutouts, two no-hitters, struck out 285 batters and had a 0.34 earned run average. At the plate, she hit .343 average and her all-around excellence earned her 1st team EA SPORTS All-American honors.

Hi everyone! It's Rhi!

The last time I wrote we had just lost our second district game to Brazoswood. Well we have played seven district games since then, and won all of them.

We finally beat Brazoswood after losing to them six times in a row. Beating them was the best feeling I've had so far this year. It wasn't just the win, but it was the way we won. We scored four runs in the first inning from a grand slam by a FRESHMAN.

Then, a couple innings later, that same freshman hit a double to the fence to knock in two more runs. After that, a new player in our program who just moved here from Sugar Land at the beginning of this semester slapped a ball up the middle to knock in two more runs. We had an 8-0 lead! And at their field, too.

They ended up scoring a run in the 4th inning, but it was unearned. That game I pitched my first no-hitter for district. I also thought it was interesting that I've pitched against Brazoswood eight times in my high school carreer, and the only two games we won were the very first game (my sophomore year) and the very last game, and both games were at their field.

Pearland is ranked No. 1 in the Houston area as of now. Everything is starting to come together now. Different players are stepping up at different times when we need them. It's not just the same people every time. Everyone, from the freshman on up to the seniors, is doing their jobs when they need to be done, and that is what is making our team so succesful right now. If we keep playing the way we've been playing, the sky is the limit for us, and I have no doubt about that.

I'll write more after district is over. Take care everyone.

Just an update on my stats if you are interested. I have pitched 116.67 innings and had 209 strikeouts. I have a 0.30 ERA. I've pitched eight shut-outs, nine 1-hitters, and one no-hitter. My batting average is .489, and I have 32 RBI's. I also had a 17 game hitting streak going, but I broke that against Creek. Oh well. Hope this was OK!
