Hello again! It's Rhi!

In less than a month I'll be going off to college... I'm so excited!

We're almost done shopping for my dorm room. I'm really lucky that I know my roommate, Kara Rau. We've played against each other in the same district for the past three years and we also take hitting lessons together. We get along great, so the dorm room situation is one thing I won't have to worry about when I get to A&M.

I've been doing my summer workout as much as I can. It's hard to find the time and space to do it when I'm out of town for a week or several days at a time, so hopefully I'm not too far behind the other freshman.

Let's see, the last time I wrote was before the Colorado Fireworks tournament. Last year we placed 5th in that tournament, so we went out this year hoping to do as good or better.

Well, we didn't quite make it.

We won our pool and our first bracket game, but we lost our second bracket game on Friday which meant we had to win 5 games on Saturday to make it to Sunday. We managed to win all 5 games on Saturday, which was great character building for our team, but I guess we were just too worn out Sunday morning because we lost our first game of the day, knocking us out of the tournament.

We ended up tied for 9th, which was still pretty good considering we lost so early and had to come all the way back through the losers bracket. Our main focus was to get our uncommitted players some exposure, and we definitely did that.

Two weeks ago I played in the annual TGCA All-Star game. I was on the 4A/5A East team with several players I've played against for many years. I pitched the final 4 innings of the game. We were ahead 4-0 going into the 7th inning, and we were visitors.

The first two batters got back to back singles off of me, and then advanced to 2nd and 3rd on a wild pitch. I was a little nervous at this point because there were no outs and the tying run was on deck. It turned out that those lead-off singles didn't matter because I struck out the next three batters to end the game. It was a great experience, and it was fun getting to play one last high school game with so many players that are going off to big schools this year. I'm glad I got to be a part of it.

This past weekend was the regional qualifier in Beaumont. My coach asked me to go up there with her on Saturday to help her scout possible pitchers and baserunners to ask to go to nationals with us if their teams didn't qualify.

It was really weird being at a tournament and sitting in the stands the whole time. I was definitely not used to that. Qualifying early this summer made a huge difference in our tournament schedule. We've actually had a few weekends off. It was so relaxing knowing that I could just sit and watch games without having to worry about being at a field at a certain time to warm up or anything like that. That was one of the first tournaments I've been to in a long time that I wasn't playing in.

We played in the McKinney exposure tournament this past weekend and next weekend we are playing in Spring Klein, and then the week after that is Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City.

Somewhere between all these tournaments I have orientation and fish camp to go to. I probably won't be able to write a blog after nationals because I'll be moving into my dorm right after that. However, you can find out how we did on our website, TexasAces.com.

Well I guess that's about it. I can't believe that in a month I'm going to have a Texas A&M uniform on! I'm so excited!!

Take care everyone!

-Rhi
