Airline, Haughton chalk up big district wins,
Parkway, Benton defeat non-district opponents

Kaylyn Harris broke open a 4-2 game with a fifth inning grand slam home run Tuesday as Airline’s Lady Vikings handed Ruston its first District 1-5A softball loss of the season with an 8-3 victory over the Lady Bearcats.

That left Natchitoches-Central as the only 1-5A team with a perfect record in district play.

It was the fifth home run of the season for Harris, who was two-for-four. Julie Stralow was two-for-three and hit her second homer.

Winning pitcher was Whitney Harrell, who had a career high 14 strikeouts and allowed five hits.
