A&M's top returning offensive weapon, wants to be at the plate in
pressure situations…Is a confident and focused batter who has a great eye for
the strike zone…Can hit with power and also has the ability to hit to all fields
while producing crucial RBIs…Is expected to once again bat third in the
lineup…Is a steady defensive player at first base…Shows good leadership and
plays with intensity…Always willing to put in the extra time to improve her
game, and her love for the sport shows in her play.
2001 (JUNIOR): Named to the NFCA All-Midwest Regional second team and voted
the Aggies' MVP after leading A&M in batting average (.354), slugging
percentage (.585), on-base percentage (.451), RBIs (40), doubles (16), total
bases (86), walks (26) and tying for the team lead with six home runs and a
10-game hitting streak…Also led the Big 12 and was ranked 17th in the nation
with 0.31 doubles per game…Her 16 doubles ranks third in the A&M season
records…Was the only A&M player to play in and start all 51 games, starting
at first base in 49 games and as the designated player in two games…Led the
Aggies with a .980 fielding percentage…Batted a team-best .423 with runners in
scoring position and also led the team with eight game-winning RBIs and 11
multiple RBI games, including four games in which she posted three RBIs
each…Named the Big 12 Player of the Week (April 10) after hitting .556 with five
hits, including two home runs, and four RBIs while leading the Aggies to a 3-0
record for the week with a 1-0 victory at Texas and a two-game home sweep
against Iowa State…Was second on the team with a .275 batting average in
conference games only.
2000 (SOPHOMORE): Started 47 games -- 46 as the designated player and
one game at first base -- in her first season as an Aggie…Played in a total of
54 games and led the team with 24 walks, ranking seventh in the A&M all-time
season records…Was second on the team with a .303 batting average and a .410
on-base percentage…Was tied for second on the squad with four game-winning RBIs,
including the game-winner in the eighth inning against Texas Tech…Also had the
game-winning hit in the Aggies' 1-0 win against Nebraska at the Capital Classic
Softball Tournament, as well as in the Aggies' seventh-inning, come-from-behind
8-4 victory at Iowa State…Recorded multiple hits in eight games, including a
3-for-4 performance against Centenary…Longest hitting streak of the season was
six games…In Big 12 games only, batted .239, including a .333 average with
runners in scoring position, and led the team with three game-winning RBIs…Also
led the team and tied for fifth in the Big 12 with nine walks.
1999 (FRESHMAN/TEXAS-SAN ANTONIO): A 1999 all-Southland Conference
first team selection and the league's Newcomer of the Year…Started 49 of 50
games for coach Corrie Hill and the Roadrunners, was second on the team behind
all-American Amanda Michalsky with a .396 batting average, nine home runs and a
.678 slugging percentage…Ranked third on the team with 26 runs, 35 RBIs and 13
doubles…Led all starters with a .981 fielding percentage as UTSA posted a 26-24
record…Was a member of the Dean's List.
PREVIOUS ATHLETIC BACKGROUND: Lettered four years as both a pitcher
and first baseman for coach Lupe Santana at W.P. Clements High School…Named to
the all-district team every year, garnering first-team honors her final three
seasons…Also received MVP accolades from 1996-98…Batted .676 and posted a 1.08
ERA as a senior…Also lettered two years in both volleyball and basketball and
one year in cross country…Played summer ball for the Spring Klein Hawks coached
by Dick Haskel…Was a teammate of current Aggie teammate Lisa Klam and former
Aggie Tammy Donnell on the 1998 Colorado Fireworks championship team…Placed 11th
